Human flourishing can be defined as the full development of the potential of humans. A human being flourishes, like a flower, if her capacities and abilities have developed to full bloom. Beyond this general description, however, there is a diversity of views about what human flourishing means, what contributes to human flourishing and the ways in which parents and teachers can further the child's development into a flourishing adult.
The central aim of the research project of Lynne Wolbert is to invesigate education for human flourishing with attention to both the aim and the means of education and upbringing.
Key words are: education, upbringing, development, subjective well-being, happiness, eudaimonia, the good life, human flourishing.
