Sabrina is a PhD candidate at the Clinical Neuropsychology section of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. She holds a bachelor and masters degree in Child and Youth Psychology, obtained at the University of Utrecht, and a research master degree in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience (specialisation Neuropsychology) obtained at Maastricht University. In 2014, she started with a PhD project on the long-term consequences of very preterm birth for neurocognitive, behavioral, and academic outcomes, under supervision of Prof. dr. J. Oosterlaan, Prof. dr. R.M. van Elburg, and dr. J.F. de Kieviet. On the one side, she focuses on elucidating the nature of problems in these developmental domains using EEG and eye-tracking methods. On the other side, she studies the role of perinatal risk factors and neonatal interventions for later outcome. This knowledge may help to identify those children who are most at risk for adverse outcomes. Moreover, improving the understanding of the specific deficits underlying behavior, motor, and academic problems in preterm children is necessary for developing tailored interventions.
Research methods: (computerized) neuropsychological tests, questionnaires, electroencephalography, eye-tracking methods.
