Jack Dekker


Professional interests

Jack Dekker is professor of Clinical Psychology at the VU University of Amsterdam and he is Head of the Research Department of Mentrum Mental Health Institute in Amsterdam.

Mentrum has a tradition of studying pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions in depression in consecutive RCTs, and it also conducted the first Dutch study of the non-clinical treatment (ACT) of outpatients with psychotic disorder.

Dekker wrote his PhD thesis on the outpatient treatment of psychotic patients, and has a keen interest in health care efficacy studies, the epidemiology of psychiatric disorders and the influence of urbanisation.
